Mourning the Loss of Dr. Jane Goodall, an Advocate for Wildlife and the Planet

Today, with heavy hearts, we honor the legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall (1934–2025), whose light guided so many toward a deeper connection with our planet and its creatures.

Earlier this year, we had the immense privilege of meeting Jane at the launch of the Wildlife Conservation Network‘s Sea Otter Fund. That moment – her warmth, her fierce hope, her conviction – remains with us.

Jane’s dedication to animals, ecosystems, and people reshaped how we think about conservation. She taught us that one life, one voice, one courageous act can ripple outward and change the world.

Her spirit endures in every effort to safeguard wildlife, restore vital habitats, and inspire compassion across the globe. At Elakha, we are committed to carrying her vision forward by honoring her legacy through action – especially through our work to return sea otters to their native habitat along the Oregon coast. We also deeply value our partnership with the Jane Goodall Environmental Middle School in Salem, OR, and look forward to continuing to mentor and support those incredible students.

Thank you, Jane – for inspiring us, guiding us, and showing us what love for the natural world truly looks like.
