It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chief Doc Slyter, Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians (CTCLUSI), who has been a valued member of the Elakha Alliance Board of Directors for the past three years. He passed away early in the morning on November 4, 2023.
We will miss his gentle thoughtful counsel, cheerful spirit, and welcoming heart. He graced us with the harmony of his flute in-between breaks during our Board meetings, which all of us cherish now more than ever. Chief Slyter is in our hearts as he walks on.
He lives on through his wife Debbie of 50 years, and his two sons, Tyler and Scott.
